Bridge 路 New Zealand
What was the reported cost of Grafton Bridge's 2009 carbon-fibre strengthening?
Grafton Bridge is a 296-metre reinforced-concrete arch over Grafton Gully in Auckland, opened in 1910. A carbon-fibre strengthening programme completed in 2009 raised its load capacity from 13 to 40 tonnes and enabled its use as a dedicated bus route. Auckland Council describes the upgrade as a NZD 7 million programme; this is the price of the 2009 strengthening, not of the original bridge construction.
