Bridge 路 United States

How much does Interstate Bridge cost?

The Interstate Bridge is the pair of 1917 and 1958 vertical-lift bridges carrying Interstate 5 across the Columbia River between Portland, Oregon and Vancouver, Washington, which the Interstate Bridge Replacement Program plans to replace together with about five miles of I-5 connections and a two-mile light rail extension to Vancouver, after the earlier Columbia River Crossing project was cancelled in 2013. The program announced on 17 March 2026 a new total cost of 14.4 billion dollars (a range of 13.5 to 15.2 billion), up 140 percent from 6 billion dollars in 2022, of which the core bridge, connections and light rail cost 7.65 billion, with construction expected to start in 2028.
