The Jinan Olympic Sports Center Stadium is the 60,000-seat main stadium of the Jinan Olympic Sports Center in Shandong, China, owned by the Shandong government, the main venue of the 11th National Games of China whose opening ceremony was held there on 16 October 2009, on a site of about 81 hectares with 357,000 square metres of floor area, begun on 28 May 2006 and in trial operation in the first half of 2009. The Life Daily reported at the groundbreaking on 28 May 2006 an estimated total investment of about 2.5 billion yuan (25 yi yuan), while the Kuai Dong Baike gives a total investment of 3.5 billion yuan (35 yi yuan).
