How much did Kansas City International Airport cost to build?

The new single terminal of Kansas City International Airport is the 40-gate terminal of just over one million square feet that replaced the old three-terminal complex in Missouri, designed by Skidmore, Owings and Merrill and delivered by Edgemoor Infrastructure and Real Estate with the design-builder Clark Weitz Clarkson, funded entirely with tax-exempt debt, and opened to passengers on 28 February 2023. The airport's own news release gives its budget as 1.5 billion dollars, the largest single infrastructure project in the city's history, up from an estimate of about 964 million dollars in 2016.
