What project cost does FHWA list for the Long Beach International Gateway bridge replacement?
The Port of Long Beach replaced the five-lane Gerald Desmond Bridge with a six-lane cable-stayed crossing to improve access for taller ships and port traffic. The U.S. Federal Highway Administration records $1.561 billion for the replacement project, which opened to traffic in October 2020. This is the whole bridge-replacement project figure, not the separate $500 million TIFIA loan within its financing plan.
