What was the budget for rebuilding the Mária Valéria Bridge?

The Maria Valeria Bridge is the Danube bridge between Sturovo in Slovakia and Esztergom in Hungary, a steel-truss bridge of 1895 destroyed in 1944 and rebuilt in a joint project co-financed by the EU's PHARE programme, with construction launched on 18 October 2000 and the bridge officially opened on 11 October 2001. The joint audit report of the Hungarian and Slovak State Audit Offices (2002) lists the budget of the complex investment project, with access roads, border crossing station and design, at EUR 20.78 million, against EUR 18.706 million of payments by 30 June 2002, before the final account, with PHARE grants of EUR 5 million to each country.
