How much did Mersey Gateway Bridge cost to build?
The Mersey Gateway is the 2.13 kilometre cable-stayed toll bridge with a 1 kilometre span over the River Mersey between Runcorn and Widnes in Cheshire, built as a public-private partnership in which Halton Borough Council awarded the Merseylink consortium a contract to design, build, finance and operate it for 30 years. The bridge opened to traffic just after midnight on 14 October 2017. New Civil Engineer reported in December 2017 that the construction and land acquisition costs were around 600 million pounds, split almost equally between the new bridge and the landside road improvements.
