How much did New Islamabad International Airport cost to build?
The New Islamabad International Airport (Benazir Bhutto International Airport) is Pakistan's first greenfield airport, a Y-shaped facility 20 km from central Islamabad with a 180,000 m2 modular terminal designed for nine million passengers a year in its first phase and about 25 million after expansions, begun in April 2007 and inaugurated by the prime minister on 1 May 2018 after years of delay. Dawn reported on 2 May 2018 that it was built at a cost of Rs105 billion, against an estimated investment of USD 400 million (PKR 37 billion) given by Airport Technology, so the USD 3.91 billion of the earlier snapshot, taken from a list of transport megaprojects, is unsupported.
