What is the revised budget of Padma Bridge Rail Link Project?
The Padma Bridge Rail Link Project is the 169 km railway from Dhaka to Jashore via the Padma Bridge in Bangladesh, built by Bangladesh Railway with Chinese contractors and Export-Import Bank of China financing, with an 82 km Dhaka to Bhanga section open since October 2023 and the full line expected to open in December 2024, ahead of the June 2025 deadline. The Business Standard reported on 16 November 2024 that its cost had been revised from Tk 39,246 crore to Tk 37,401 crore, saving Tk 1,845 crore.
