How much did the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge in San Francisco Bay cost to build?
The Richmond-San Rafael Bridge (John F. McCarthy Memorial Bridge) is the cantilever and truss crossing of San Francisco Bay between Richmond and San Rafael on Interstate 580, built with a swayback single-deck design to save money, dedicated on 31 August 1956 by Governor Goodwin Knight and opened to traffic on 1 September 1956, with the lower deck added and opened on 20 August 1957. The Metropolitan Transportation Commission's Bay Link blog says USD 62 million in state bonds was approved plus USD 4 million of state money and that the bridge came in USD 4 million under budget, while Wikipedia gives a USD 68 million total including a USD 6 million 1955 state loan for the lower deck.
