How much did San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station Units 2 and 3 cost to build?
San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station Units 2 and 3 are two pressurised-water reactors of up to 1,100 MW each on the California coast, owned by Southern California Edison, San Diego Gas & Electric and the City of Riverside, commissioned in August 1983 and April 1984 and shut down in 2012 after steam-generator wear, with permanent retirement announced in 2013. Power Technology says the two units required an investment of USD 4.5 billion, while Wikipedia gives USD 8.968 billion, an EIA figure restated in 2007 dollars; the older Unit 1 is not included.
