How much did the Tamar Bridge between Plymouth and Saltash cost to build?
The Tamar Bridge is a suspension bridge across the River Tamar between Plymouth and Saltash, with a 335 m main span, designed by Mott, Hay & Anderson and built by Cleveland Bridge and Engineering Company. The contract was awarded on 19 June 1959, it opened to traffic on 24 October 1961 after two years and three months, and the Queen Mother formally opened it on 26 April 1962; it was the first major suspension bridge built in the UK after World War II. The operator Tamar Crossings says it cost GBP 1.5 million, while Wikipedia gives GBP 1.8 million and the Old Plymouth Society GBP 1.3 million.
