How much did the Tjeldsund Bridge in Norway cost to build?
The Tjeldsund Bridge (Tjeldsundbrua) is a 1,007 m steel suspension bridge with a 290 m main span, 32 spans and 41 m of clearance that carries European route E10 (King Olav's Road) over the Tjeldsund strait between Hinn酶ya and the mainland in Troms and Nordland, Norway. Work began in April 1965 and, though planned for autumn 1968, the bridge was opened by King Olav V on 22 October 1967 (the English Wikipedia says 22 August) after about 30 months, 375,000 work hours, 112,000 bags of cement and 1,200 tonnes of steel. It was paid for with tolls collected until 30 June 1981, and the cost of NOK 45 million comes only from the English Wikipedia.
