How much did Vaðlaheiðargöng cost to build?

The Vaðlaheiðargöng is a toll road tunnel of about 7.4 km on the Ring Road between Akureyri and Fnjóskadalur in North Iceland, shortening the route by 16 km. It was built by the company Vaðlaheiðargöng hf., owned by the state and local interests and financed by a state-backed loan, from July 2013, opened for traffic on 21 December 2018 and was delayed by about two years and hampered by water ingress. The company's 2023 annual report shows the tunnel on its balance sheet at a cost of ISK 17.85 billion, including capitalised financing and operating costs of the construction period.
