Tunnel · Australia

What was the original budget of Western Harbour Tunnel?

The Western Harbour Tunnel is a new toll road under Sydney Harbour, twin tunnels of about 6.5 km, with an upgrade of the Warringah Freeway, being delivered for the NSW Government. Stage One (about 1.7 km) went to a John Holland–CPB joint venture for A$722 million in 2022 and Stage Two (about 4.8 km) to Acciona. The government announced it at A$4.5 billion in 2017, the current NSW Budget funds A$3.8 billion over four years, and it is expected to open in late 2028 or 2029.
