How much was WNP-3 and WNP-5 expected to cost?

WNP-3 and WNP-5 were two 1,240 MW pressurized-water reactors that the Washington Public Power Supply System began building at Satsop, Grays Harbor County, Washington, on 1 May 1977. WNP-5 was stopped in January 1982 about 16% complete and WNP-3 was deferred in July 1983 about 76% complete, and neither was ever finished; the construction permits were terminated in 1999. The reported cost of about $24 billion covers all five of the supply system's plants, whose estimate had grown from $4.1 billion, and the supply system defaulted on $2.25 billion of bonds in 1983, the largest municipal default in US history.
